Rangers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin McKersey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ter Murchison took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenny Lamondson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ter Murchison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny Lamondson in the 43rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Kenny Lamondson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rangers FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kenny Lamondson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ter Murchison breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Martin McKersey could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Ter Murchison made a huge save. Sam McGilbert struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Reece Beaton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ayr. If Tom Gold had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reece Beaton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sam McGilbert went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Martin McKersey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tom Gold sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sam McGilbert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 74 minutes, Sam McGilbert managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ayr's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sam McGilbert was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Tom Gold had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reece Beaton. Rangers FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tom Gold was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. 80 minutes into the game, Sam McGilbert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Reece Beaton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gus McDulothe kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's Marcus Douglas broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Kenny Lamondson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ter Murchison having to interfere. Ayr's Ter Murchison proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Ayr from getting a goal against them. For all the effort they put into the match, the Rangers FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ayr.
