The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Kenneth McOwen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sandown City's Angus McNiven played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joseph Crawford in the 11th minute of play. If Kenneth McOwen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Stevie Wallis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kenneth McOwen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sandown City's Angus McNiven proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save Sandown City from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joseph Crawford in the 23rd minute of play forced Sandown City's goalkeeper Angus McNiven to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marc McLaine kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. If Walter McGuire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Dalwhinnie AFC booed when Sandown City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sam Moore didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 35 minutes Sandown City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marc Cessford who took care of the corner kick. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Dalwhinnie AFC's goalkeeper Stevie Wallis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Kenneth McOwen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the match, Dalwhinnie AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Griesck came free, but Stevie Wallis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The supporters of Sandown City booed when Dalwhinnie AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robin Lammond didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dalwhinnie AFC's Stevie Wallis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robin Griesck in the 57th minute of play. In the 58th minute, Kenneth McOwen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sandown City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Joseph Crawford hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Robin Griesck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dalwhinnie AFC's Stevie Wallis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Dalwhinnie AFC from getting a goal against them. Angus McNiven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walter McGuire in the 65th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robin Griesck in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stevie Wallis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Dalwhinnie AFC's Stevie Wallis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Dalwhinnie AFC from getting a goal against them. Kenneth McOwen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stevie Wallis having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Dalwhinnie AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Griesck came free, but Stevie Wallis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kenneth McOwen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stevie Wallis having to interfere. Stevie Wallis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robin Griesck in the 78th minute of the match. Angus McNiven stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joseph Crawford's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Stevie Wallis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robin Griesck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stevie Wallis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kenneth McOwen in the 91st minute. 93 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dalwhinnie AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Brian Cochrane was slow to take the kick. During this time Sandown City's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Brian Cochrane almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Dalwhinnie AFC's Stevie Wallis did a great save. The Sandown City players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
