Richard Denoon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phil McGilvra, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Phil McGilvra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Richard Denoon having to interfere. Mike Connor hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 13 minutes into the game, Phil McGilvra recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Richard Denoon. Phil McGilvra showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 16th minute, FC Barcelona's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Greg Bell fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Gordon's Phil McGilvra was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 16th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Greg Bell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Richard Denoon made a huge save. Ian Beresford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mike Connor, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Phil McGilvra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Richard Denoon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Richard Denoon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phil McGilvra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Barcelona's defense didn't have a chance, in the 37th minute, when Phil McGilvra scored to the left of an out of position Richard Denoon, making the score, 3-0. Phil McGilvra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucas Adkins sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes in the game, Phil McGilvra fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Richard Denoon having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Phil McGilvra to make the kick off. FC Barcelona's Richard Denoon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Greg Bell in the 53rd minute of play. 60 minutes into the game, Greg Bell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Richard Denoon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gavin Lennie struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Ian Beresford didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Barcelona. Kyle McMunn hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. 68 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's Matt McRory broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phil McGilvra in the 72nd minute of play forced FC Barcelona's goalkeeper Richard Denoon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mike Connor during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to FC Barcelona getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Mike Connor hit a great ball. Richard Denoon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greg Bell in the 76th minute of play. The supporters of Gordon booed when FC Barcelona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Arthur didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Barcelona's zone, Greg Bell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Denoon came out of the goal and Greg Bell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Richard Denoon came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Gordon's Phil McGilvra. But to his dismay, Phil McGilvra quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Phil McGilvra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Richard Denoon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Phil McGilvra scored 6-0 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Richard Denoon, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Barcelona players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Gordon.
