Harold Fraser made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Dunlop in the 6th minute of play. Celtic Rangers FC's Brian Malcolmson got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Brian Malcolmson came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Celtic Rangers FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brian Malcolmson couldn't finish the play. In the 12th minute Davie Brewster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harold Fraser saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Josh McSwan charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Josh McSwan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 17 played minutes Celtic Rangers FC got a freekick which was hit by Josh McSwan. The Wick fans' excitement grew in the 20th match minute when Wick's Martin Dunlop looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Brian Malcolmson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martin Dunlop received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Harold Fraser tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Harold Fraser took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Dunlop, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wick's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Brian Malcolmson 31 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Martin Dunlop in the 43rd minute of play forced Celtic Rangers FC's goalkeeper Harold Fraser to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 44th minute, Davie Brewster left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wick fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Martin Dunlop to strike the kick off in the second half. Celtic Rangers FC's Harold Fraser proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Celtic Rangers FC from getting a goal against them. If Martin Dunlop had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wick's Martin Dunlop got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Wick's Harold Fraser threw himself towards the right post 61 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Martin Dunlop, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 66 minutes into the match, Wick's goal looked a bit too open when Tim McAngus came free, but Nicky McKintosh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Rod McMonies had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Harold Fraser managed to avoid a goal in the 80thth minute, when Wick's Martin Dunlop fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 80th minute, Josh McSwan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Davie Brewster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Celtic Rangers FC booed when Wick was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas McComie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Davie Brewster was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 93rd minute. Wick's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a defensive mix-up in Celtic Rangers FC's zone, Martin Dunlop stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Harold Fraser came out of the goal and Martin Dunlop tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Celtic Rangers FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Wick were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
