Spectators: 1467 (Terracing: 1128, Seating: 339, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Rod Clanachan took the kick off in the first half of the match. After a rather tough play, Oldcastle Retirement Club's Joe McColl got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Wick's David Smart couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Oldcastle Retirement Club. Vinny McGregor charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vinny McGregor the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 5 played minutes Oldcastle Retirement Club got a freekick which was hit by Vinny McGregor. In the 8th minute, Oldcastle Retirement Club's Arthur McKerchar ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nicky McKintosh. Nicky McKintosh yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. After 12 minutes, Conor Lemond mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wick and the Oldcastle Retirement Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rod Clanachan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Nicky McKintosh when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davie Brewster in the 25th minute of play forced Oldcastle Retirement Club's goalkeeper Allan McGregor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A hard shot 28 in the game by Rod Clanachan from a close distance when the talented Nicky McKintosh managed to make a qualified save. Wick's players were relieved. Allan McGregor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from David Smart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 34th match minute, Wick was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ewan Adie to maneuver through the defense. Nicky McKintosh acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 34th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Joseph Greig. The long shot by Arthur McKerchar in the 37th minute really tested Nicky McKintosh's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Rod Clanachan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Nicky McKintosh made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rod Clanachan in the 39th minute of play forced Wick's goalkeeper Nicky McKintosh to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Allan McGregor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davie Brewster in the 41st minute of play. After having played for 44 minutes, Ron Jeffrey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oldcastle Retirement Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ron Jeffrey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Martin Dunlop to strike the kick off in the second half. Rod Clanachan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicky McKintosh having to interfere. Nicky McKintosh stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rod Clanachan's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. A collision led to Wick getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Conor Lemond hit a great ball. The audience held their breath when Joseph Greig in the 59th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Nicky McKintosh's left hand side. If Rod Clanachan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oldcastle Retirement Club's Allan McGregor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davie Brewster in the 63rd minute of play. Rod Clanachan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nicky McKintosh having to make a save. The Oldcastle Retirement Club fans' excitement grew in the 71st match minute when Oldcastle Retirement Club's Rod Clanachan looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Rod Clanachan came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Oldcastle Retirement Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rod Clanachan couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the game, Oldcastle Retirement Club's Rod Clanachan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nicky McKintosh made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Wick's zone, Ron Jeffrey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicky McKintosh came out of the goal and Ron Jeffrey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rod Clanachan in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nicky McKintosh saved Wick from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rod Clanachan in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicky McKintosh prevented the ball from getting in the gole. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
