Spectators: 6776 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1776, VIP seats: 0) UK United's Stevie Johnston started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute, Bob McOwl got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Gus McQuistan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gus McQuistan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Wal McMurdo made a huge save. With a little luck, UK United's Wal McMurdo got control of the ball when Gus McQuistan tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 20th minute Stevie Johnston shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew Tonnochy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stevie Johnston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Tonnochy having to interfere. Drew Tonnochy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robin Ronaldson in the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th minute Bob McOwl shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wal McMurdo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the game, Kevin McQuisten was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kilbirnie's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UK United the free kick. After 29 played minutes Kilbirnie got a freekick which was hit by Kevin McQuisten. Stevie Johnston received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Drew Tonnochy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Simon Colville didn't quite understand what happened when in the 37 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Gus McQuistan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Wal McMurdo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 43 minutes into the game, Bob McOwl was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kilbirnie's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UK United the free kick. In the 43rd match minute, Kilbirnie was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob McOwl to maneuver through the defense. UK United's Wal McMurdo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bob McOwl in the 46th minute of play. Robin Ronaldson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Drew Tonnochy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Wal McMurdo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob McOwl in the 56th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Kilbirnie's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Robin Ronaldson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Gus McQuistan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kilbirnie's supporters rose to their feet, but Gus McQuistan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wal McMurdo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Colin Colville hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Kenny Clyne was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 75th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 80 played minutes UK United got a freekick which was hit by Richard Lamb. Bob McOwl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Wal McMurdo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 85 minutes of play, Kilbirnie's Gus McQuistan made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wal McMurdo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Wal McMurdo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gus McQuistan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
