Wigtown's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Heart of Midlothian the free kick. In the 5th match minute, Wigtown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Askey to maneuver through the defense. After 6 played minutes, Heart of Midlothian's Theo Doles shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Shane Cumin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Heart of Midlothian reached it. Simon McDulothe kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Will McRa during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Wigtown's Will McRa got a free kick in the 15th minute. A collision led to Heart of Midlothian getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Troy Fife hit a great ball. 20 minutes into the match, Wigtown's Darren Docharty sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gavin Boyle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Marc Dochart had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Troy Fife received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Shane Cumin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joe Lecky sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Marc Dochart left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wigtown fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Darren Docharty managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wigtown's supporters rose to their feet, but Darren Docharty was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gavin Boyle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 44 minutes into the match, Heart of Midlothian's goal looked a bit too open when Darren Docharty came free, but Gavin Boyle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Wigtown were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 55th minute, Troy Fife left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Heart of Midlothian fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Marc Dochart fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavin Boyle having to interfere. Joe Lecky recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ciaran Storie charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ciaran Storie the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joe Lecky succeeded in the game's 75th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-2. 79 minutes into the match, Wigtown's Marc Dochart sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gavin Boyle narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lloyd Hewitt kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Heart of Midlothian's Gavin Boyle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur McKellar in the 85th minute of play. Heart of Midlothian's defense didn't have a chance, in the 90th minute, when Darren Docharty scored to the left of an out of position Gavin Boyle, making the score, 2-3. After a defensive mix-up in Wigtown's zone, Joe Lecky stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shane Cumin came out of the goal and Joe Lecky tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joe Lecky took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Shane Cumin. Shane Cumin dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. The Wigtown players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Heart of Midlothian from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
