Ben Neal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Harold McIldowie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Martin Cruickshanks was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Calum McRaith in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Harold McIldowie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 55 minutes into the game, Wick's Martin Cruickshanks nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Euan Caddell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Nicol Pinkerton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Calum McRaith fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harold McIldowie having to interfere. Harold McIldowie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicol Pinkerton in the 66th minute of the match. Martin Cruickshanks took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Euan Caddell. Euan Caddell dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Wick's goalkeeper Harold McIldowie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Banchory's Nicol Pinkerton in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wick's goalie prevented a goal. Lee McGilchrist struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Euan Caddell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wick. The supporters of Wick booed when Banchory was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calum McRaith didn't get a good kick on the ball.
