Doune City's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Nicol Pinkerton scored to the left of an out of position Steve McBheath, making the score, 1-0. 15 minutes into the match, Doune City's Malcolm Hallyard sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Euan Caddell narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Banchory's goalkeeper Euan Caddell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Steve McBheath took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicol Pinkerton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Doune City defense, Nicol Pinkerton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Steve McBheath. The Doune City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Steve McBheath should have stopped the shot. Robert McNair's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Steve McBheath read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Brian McKeggie hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicol Pinkerton in the 44th minute of play forced Doune City's goalkeeper Steve McBheath to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robert McNair received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Steve McBheath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Malcolm Hallyard to strike the kick off in the second half. Ian McRach kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. 53 minutes into the match, Banchory's Ben Neal broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Robert McNair fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steve McBheath having to interfere. 64 minutes into the match, Doune City's goal looked a bit too open when Nicol Pinkerton came free, but Steve McBheath reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donald Cooke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Banchory fans' excitement grew in the 81st match minute when Banchory's Robert McNair looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Nigel Reidfurd's late challenge caught a Banchory's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nigel Reidfurd helped the player get up and apologised. In the 87thth minute of the game Nicol Pinkerton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Doune City's Steve McBheath was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Banchory's Nicol Pinkerton got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicol Pinkerton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Steve McBheath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 96th minute of the match Ben Neal shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Steve McBheath showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. There was no doubt that Banchory were the better team. Banchory's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
