Jordan McCrimmor struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Davie Carson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Beith United. Jordan McCrimmor's late challenge caught a Canonbie's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jordan McCrimmor helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Beith United getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Jordan McCrimmor hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the match, Beith United's goal looked a bit too open when Wal Dyce came free, but Max Beath reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jordan McCrimmor got his second yellow card in the match during the 11th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 12th minute, Jordan McCrimmor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute, Gary McCrae ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Max Beath was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Gary McCrae fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Max Beath having to interfere. Keith McNuir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Davie Carson having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Gary McCrae notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Beith United's Max Beath. Max Beath was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Lucas McConnach fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Beith United's protests and gave Lucas McConnach a yellow card for diving instead. After 37 played minutes Beith United got a freekick which was hit by Lucas McConnach. Wal Dyce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Max Beath having to interfere. If Keith McNuir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Max Beath took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gary McCrae, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 53rd minute, Lucas McConnach got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Tony Howie came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Beith United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tony Howie couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Keith McNuir in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Davie Carson saved Canonbie from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gary McCrae in the 59th minute of play forced Beith United's goalkeeper Max Beath to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gary McCrae who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 61stth minute tested the skills of Max Beath when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Keith McNuir sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bob McTary received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Davie Carson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 66th minute Wal Dyce shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Max Beath saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Canonbie's Davie Carson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keith McNuir in the 79th minute of play. Wal Dyce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Max Beath made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gary McCrae in the 85th minute. Wal Dyce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Max Beath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Gary McCrae got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Max Beath showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wal Dyce, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
