The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Peter McHarold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lucas McConnach in the 2nd minute of the match. Peter McHarold stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Lucas McConnach's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. The supporters of Beith United booed when Campbeltown City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Malcolm Malcolm didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 7th minute, Lucas McConnach got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Keith McNuir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter McHarold having to interfere. After having played for 12 minutes, Lucas McConnach managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Beith United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lucas McConnach was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Beith United's Max Beath played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rick Smith in the 14th minute of play. 21 minutes into the game, Lucas McConnach cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Peter McHarold was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hamish Appleton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Max Beath having to interfere. Rick Smith sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wayne McPhedron received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Max Beath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Rick Smith hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute, Brian Askey fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 46th match minute, Beith United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bob McTary to maneuver through the defense. The Campbeltown City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Beith United were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Lucas McConnach made the kick off in the second half. Peter McHarold made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Keith McNuir sent off a good shot on target. Max Beath showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hamish Appleton, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hamish Appleton in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Max Beath saved Beith United from getting behind. If Hamish Appleton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st minute, Rick Smith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 0-3 became the score in the 73rd minute when Keith McNuir elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Rick Smith scored 1-3 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Max Beath, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Keith McNuir had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Keith McNuir got free with Peter McHarold in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 89th minute, Rick Smith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Max Beath made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamish Appleton in the 94th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Beith United's Jordan McCrimmor got a free kick in the 95th minute.
