Spectators: 6787 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1787, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Martin Grier kicked off to start the match. Hogsmeade FC's Danny Malcolmson got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hogsmeade FC's Rupert Buntine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martin Grier in the 13th minute of play. When Martin Grier came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Montrose United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Grier couldn't finish the play. If Martin Grier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frankie Huntly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rupert Buntine having to interfere. Martin Grier received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Rupert Buntine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Davie Sporran during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Montrose United's Davie Sporran got a free kick in the 39th minute. In the 43rd minute, Tony McChruiter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Angus Yule was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Danny Malcolmson made the kick off in the second half. Rupert Buntine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Grier in the 59th minute of play. After having played for 63 minutes, Tony McChruiter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hogsmeade FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tony McChruiter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Frankie Huntly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rupert Buntine having to interfere. After 75 played minutes Montrose United got a freekick which was hit by Rod Marshall. Tony McChruiter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rupert Buntine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin Grier, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. After 85 played minutes Montrose United got a freekick which was hit by Davie Sporran. Phil Durrant, 86 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. A collision led to Montrose United getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Davie Sporran hit a great ball. Hogsmeade FC's Phil Durrant shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 89th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Angus Yule but with some difficulty. Johnny McSwen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Rupert Buntine. Hogsmeade FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the Hogsmeade FC defense, Frankie Huntly kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rupert Buntine. The Hogsmeade FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rupert Buntine should have stopped the shot. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
