Spectators: 6793 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1793, VIP seats: 0) Douglas Buckley started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd minute, Archie McSween hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frankie Huntly received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Fraser Malcolmson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 7 minutes in the game, Martin Grier fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Fraser Malcolmson having to interfere. After 9 played minutes, Montrose United's Johnny McSwen shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fraser Malcolmson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Montrose United reached it. In the 11th minute Martin Grier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fraser Malcolmson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fraser Howe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Angus Yule tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15th minute, Timmy McQuartie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dalwhinnie's Fraser Howe got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fraser Howe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Dalwhinnie's Davie Bell got a free kick in the 27th minute. Rod Marshall, 28 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Fraser Howe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Angus Yule tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Montrose United's Alan Lees pulled a muscle in his back after 36 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Ronnie O'Shaig fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dalwhinnie's protests and gave Ronnie O'Shaig a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Montrose United booed when Dalwhinnie was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ronnie O'Shaig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frankie Huntly's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fraser Malcolmson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Davie Sporran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Timmy McQuartie fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dalwhinnie's protests and gave Timmy McQuartie a yellow card for diving instead. After 41 played minutes Dalwhinnie got a freekick which was hit by Timmy McQuartie. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Davie Sporran managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montrose United's supporters rose to their feet, but Davie Sporran was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fraser Malcolmson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

David Toward recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Dalwhinnie's zone, Frankie Huntly stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fraser Malcolmson came out of the goal and Frankie Huntly tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dalwhinnie's Fraser Malcolmson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frankie Huntly in the 56th minute of play. In the 63rd minute, Fraser Howe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Montrose United's zone, Fraser Howe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Angus Yule came out of the goal and Fraser Howe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fraser Malcolmson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frankie Huntly in the 71st minute of play. Fraser Malcolmson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frankie Huntly, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. If Douglas Buckley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fraser Malcolmson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frankie Huntly in the 79th minute of the match. 80 minutes into the match, Frankie Huntly notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Dalwhinnie's Fraser Malcolmson. Fraser Malcolmson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Oliver Crawford during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Douglas Buckley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angus Yule having to interfere. Douglas Buckley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Angus Yule tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Montrose United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dalwhinnie had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
