When Stuart Massey was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 38 minutes had been played. After 39 played minutes Bembridge got a freekick which was hit by Stuart Massey. 41 minutes into the match, Bembridge's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremy Bean came free, but Gus Mitchell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gus Mitchell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brian Webster in the 47th minute of play. The Shanklin FC fans' excitement grew in the 49th match minute when Shanklin FC's Dougal Toward looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Brian Webster to strike the kick off in the second half. After 57 played minutes Bembridge got a freekick which was hit by Guy May. After 61 minutes of play, Bembridge's Nicholas McHendrie made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net.
