Spectators: 6783 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1783, VIP seats: 0) After 2 played minutes Gorbals United got a freekick which was hit by Matt Basnett. In the 7th minute Derek McRurie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Nelson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tony Nelson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Derek McRurie's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dougal Toward got free with Alistair McInroy in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alistair McInroy came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Shanklin FC's Jeremy Bean. But to his dismay, Jeremy Bean quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Derek McRurie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gorbals United's supporters rose to their feet, but Derek McRurie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tony Nelson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matt Basnett hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Shanklin FC's Richard Duffus tried to score from far away in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After having played for 33 minutes, Brian Webster managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Shanklin FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brian Webster was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 35th minute, Matt Basnett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tony Nelson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Jamieson in the 39th minute of the match. Derek McRurie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Nelson having to interfere. Tony Nelson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivan Jamieson's shot from short distance in the 42nd minute. Dougal Toward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dougal Toward stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Dougal Toward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alistair McInroy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ter Doles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 59 minutes, Ivan Jamieson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gorbals United and the Shanklin FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ivan Jamieson hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Ter Doles's late challenge caught a Gorbals United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ter Doles helped the player get up and apologised. In the 64th minute, Ter Doles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Shanklin FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Jamieson came free, but Tony Nelson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jeremy Bean kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. Alex Dyce's shot from long distance in the 68th minute was not bad at all, but Shanklin FC's Tony Nelson knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. After having played for 73 minutes, Ivan Jamieson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gorbals United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivan Jamieson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ivan Jamieson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tony Nelson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Jamieson in the 86th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Shanklin FC's zone, Ivan Jamieson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tony Nelson came out of the goal and Ivan Jamieson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st minute, Dougal Toward made a precise shot to the right of Alistair McInroy. Gorbals United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Shanklin FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gorbals United for a fine match.
