Rick Suttie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Robbie Forester went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When the match clock showed 8 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Robbie Forester sped through Aberdeen FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rick Suttie. 13 minutes into the match, Larbert FC's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Fyfe came free, but Guy Kilgour reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th minute, Robbie Forester ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rick Suttie was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Miles Abbotson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rod Coultard hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Sid Appleby from long distance, 33 minutes into the match, got Guy Kilgour's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. A collision led to Larbert FC getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Hamish McNuir hit a great ball. After 39 played minutes Larbert FC got a freekick which was hit by Derek Sinclair. In the 41st minute of the match, Raymond McCammond got a very nice opportunity to score, but Guy Kilgour was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. A collision led to Aberdeen FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Duncan McGilvernock hit a great ball. Aberdeen FC's Rick Suttie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miles Abbotson in the 47th minute of play. After 48 minutes, Duncan McGilvernock mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Aberdeen FC and the Larbert FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 48th match minute, Aberdeen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duncan McGilvernock to maneuver through the defense. Miles Abbotson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 50th minute. Rick Suttie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

In the 56th match minute, Aberdeen FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quentin Menzies to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Robbie Forester's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rick Suttie was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robbie Forester in the 60th minute of play forced Aberdeen FC's goalkeeper Rick Suttie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Aberdeen FC's Nicky McIock got a free kick in the 61st minute. After 63 played minutes Larbert FC got a freekick which was hit by Chris Gillon. After 65 minutes of play Aberdeen FC's Duncan McGilvernock was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Larbert FC booed when Aberdeen FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duncan McGilvernock didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robbie Forester in the 68th minute of play forced Aberdeen FC's goalkeeper Rick Suttie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robbie Forester struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Rick Suttie didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Larbert FC. In the 82nd minute, Shane Dingwall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rick Suttie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robbie Forester in the 86th minute of the match. Nicky McIock blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guy Kilgour having to make a save. Raymond McCammond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guy Kilgour having to interfere. Rick Suttie came out of the goal in the 100th minute to try and stop a shot by Larbert FC's Miles Abbotson. But to his dismay, Miles Abbotson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Larbert FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
