After 20 played minutes Perth got a freekick which was hit by David Forrester. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lloyd Davies in the 24th minute of play forced Forfar's goalkeeper John McJames to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. John McJames showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lloyd Davies, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lloyd Davies stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Wayne Beaton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perth's supporters rose to their feet, but Wayne Beaton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. John McJames breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Perth booed when Forfar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ter McNeilly didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Perth's Lloyd Davies slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of John McJames. That made the score 1-3 after 93 minutes of play. Lloyd Davies recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
