Spectators: 6793 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1793, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Barry Broom started the match with the kick off. Jeremy McVey struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Phillip Smith didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Banff. The supporters of Banff booed when Newcastleton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan McAskill didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ron Durrant could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Norman McKinning made a huge save. Norman McKinning made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angus McIndoe in the 24th minute of play. The supporters of Newcastleton booed when Banff was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quentin McGlasrich didn't get a good kick on the ball. Newcastleton's Will Marshall couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 29th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Banff. Barry Broom received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Phillip Smith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 47 minutes into the game, Brandon McKinnon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newcastleton's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Banff the free kick. Phillip Smith came out of the goal in the 48th minute to try and stop a shot by Banff's Barry Broom. But to his dismay, Barry Broom quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Angus McIndoe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Angus McIndoe got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Norman McKinning showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ron Durrant, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. If Ron Durrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angus McIndoe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st match minute, Banff was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sean McVicar to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ron Durrant in the 62nd minute of play forced Banff's goalkeeper Norman McKinning to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeremy McVey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Barry Broom sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stuart Brodie stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Phillip Smith. 1-2. Norman McKinning showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angus McIndoe in the 93rd minute of the match.
