With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jack Pearson in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Irvin Boyd saved The Alfordigans FC from getting behind. When Lloyd Kinnieson fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Insch City's protests and gave Lloyd Kinnieson a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Insch City getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Lloyd Kinnieson hit a great ball. Stephen Cole fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marc Howison having to interfere. In the 15thth minute of the game David McCraw who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Alfordigans FC's Irvin Boyd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by David McCraw in the 18th minute of play forced The Alfordigans FC's goalkeeper Irvin Boyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Irvin Boyd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David McCraw in the 20th minute of play. After 23 played minutes Insch City got a freekick which was hit by Roy Rusk. If Jack Pearson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stephen Cole sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Irvin Boyd managed to avoid a goal in the 36thth minute, when Insch City's Jack Pearson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Insch City's zone, Ewan McConochie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marc Howison came out of the goal and Ewan McConochie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ewan McConochie to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stephen Cole in the 53rd minute of play forced Insch City's goalkeeper Marc Howison to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jack Pearson in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Irvin Boyd prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
