Seating: 1783, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nicol McCabe kicked off to start the match. In the 4th minute, Robbie Gibson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 7 minutes of play, Earlston City's Wayne McKelloch made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Douglas McQuarrie was left in no man's land by his defense there! Robbie Gibson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Douglas McQuarrie having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, Nicol McCabe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Douglas McQuarrie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Nicol McCabe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Earlston City's goalkeeper James Gillespie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicol McCabe in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Douglas McQuarrie prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 23 minutes into the game, Graeme McLachlan was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Biggar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Earlston City the free kick. Graeme McLachlan hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Nicol McCabe recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 27th minute of the match, Nigel Greenlaw tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but James Gillespie saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Earlston City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 30th minute. Penalty! In the 34th minute, Earlston City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Les Adie fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Aidan McVean's late challenge caught a Biggar's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aidan McVean helped the player get up and apologised. If Nigel Greenlaw had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicol McCabe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Douglas McQuarrie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Robbie Gibson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Biggar's Douglas McQuarrie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicol McCabe in the 42nd minute of play. James Gillespie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nigel Greenlaw in the 43rd minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 48th minute of the game. One of Biggar:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Earlston City:s goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The wind increased when Nigel Greenlaw made the kick off in the second half. James Gillespie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nigel Greenlaw, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Biggar's Les Adie in the 63rd minute got a chance for a shot 63rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Earlston City's goalie prevented a goal. Robbie Gibson in the 90thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Douglas McQuarrie, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Alexander Kay kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Biggar's Kenneth Donaldson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Timothy McCeallaich during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 95 played minutes, Biggar's Kenneth Donaldson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper James Gillespie came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Biggar reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Les Adie during the 96th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Earlston City booed when Biggar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Les Adie didn't get a good kick on the ball. Robbie Gibson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Douglas McQuarrie made a huge save. Robbie Gibson's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 99thth minute, Douglas McQuarrie skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicol McCabe in the 101st minute of play forced Biggar's goalkeeper Douglas McQuarrie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Les Adie in the 103rd minute of play forced Earlston City's goalkeeper James Gillespie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Earlston City had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
