Wick's Marcus McCansh got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcus McCansh recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 30th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Malcolm Durrant managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wick's supporters rose to their feet, but Malcolm Durrant was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Irvin Boyd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Malcolm Durrant scored 0-1 in the 44th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Irvin Boyd, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

Malcolm Durrant might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Irvin Boyd. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Malcolm Durrant ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Stephen Cole's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thomas Alderson was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. In the 73rd minute, Wick's John McLae seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed John McLae the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Wick protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and John McLae had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Bradley McGruer kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Marcus McCansh was extremely unlucky when he, in the 93rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Stephen Cole had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wick's Thomas Alderson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ewan McConochie in the 99th minute of play.
