When Nicholas Munn came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Saltcoats FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicholas Munn couldn't finish the play. Jordan Gowan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience was convinced that Malcolm McAldonich's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kyle Binnie was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. When Malcolm McAldonich came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Alloway fans jumped to their feet. Sid Dinwoodie's late challenge caught a Alloway's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sid Dinwoodie helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Saltcoats FC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Sid Dinwoodie hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Alexander in the 90th minute of play forced Saltcoats FC's goalkeeper Kyle Binnie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 91 played minutes, Saltcoats FC's Keith McMurchie shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jordan Gowan came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line.
