Nicholas Barron took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 44th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Charles Buntain. Earlston FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Adrian Stringer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michael McGorrie having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eric McTear to make the kick off. Shane McTaggarts short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Charles Buntain to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Michael McGorrie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adrian Stringer in the 55th minute of the match. The attack was good, but when Frankie Barr in the 57th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 58th match minute, Huntington United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miles Cookson to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute, Eric McTear reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Charles Buntain. The goal made the score 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Eric McTear managed to get in a good position for a shot. Huntington United's supporters rose to their feet, but Eric McTear was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles Buntain breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Declan McCaul charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Shane McTaggart could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Charles Buntain made a huge save. 72 minutes into the match, Huntington United's Eric McTear sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Charles Buntain narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
