Elliot Forrister didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Scotland. 25 minutes into the match, Galashiels FC's goal looked a bit too open when Barry Meine came free, but Elliot Forrister reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Shane McNey during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Galashiels FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Shane McNey hit a great ball. Miles McGhee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elliot Forrister having to interfere. Elliot Forrister showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Meine, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the game, Wal Martin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galashiels FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Scotland the free kick. A collision led to Galashiels FC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Wal Martin hit a great ball. Scotland's Barry Burdon couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 37th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Galashiels FC. After a defensive mix-up in Galashiels FC's zone, Barry Meine stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elliot Forrister came out of the goal and Barry Meine tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Barry Meine took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Elliot Forrister. Elliot Forrister dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. A collision led to Galashiels FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Conor McCraw hit a great ball. In the 45th minute, Barry Meine got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Scotland fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Scotland's Barry Meine looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy Baxter to make the kick off. When Shane McNey was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 56 minutes had been played. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miles Carruthers got free with Elliot Forrister in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Miles Carruthers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 83rd minute, Stevie Connall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Stevie Connall managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galashiels FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Stevie Connall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jordan Bean breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 96th minute Stevie Connall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jordan Bean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
