Johnny Elder placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! With a little luck, McLaren Academy FC's Munro McCalmont got control of the ball when Neil Gregorson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 18th minute, Wal Niven fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Archie McAy's late challenge caught a Fraserburgh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Archie McAy helped the player get up and apologised. After 20 played minutes McLaren Academy FC got a freekick which was hit by Archie McAy. When Wal Niven came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Fraserburgh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wal Niven couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, McLaren Academy FC's Benjamin McRobie got a free kick in the 28th minute. Neil Gregorson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Munro McCalmont tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Neil Gregorson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 43 minutes, Aiden Dobson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the McLaren Academy FC and the Fraserburgh players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dean Yuill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aiden Dobson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

After 54 played minutes Fraserburgh got a freekick which was hit by Neil Gregorson. Michael Cargill kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Wal Niven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Munro McCalmont having to interfere. When Sean Connall came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the McLaren Academy FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sean Connall couldn't finish the play. If Neil Gregorson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. McLaren Academy FC's Munro McCalmont played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wal Niven in the 70th minute of play. In the 77th minute, Archie McAy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fraserburgh's Johnny Elder couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 78th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for McLaren Academy FC. Wal Niven received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Munro McCalmont tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Neil Gregorson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fraserburgh fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0.
