Scotland's Jordan Bean played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stevie Connall in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute Galashiels FC were awarded a corner. Larry Bontine went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Harold Ellwood got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jordan Bean quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. If Miles McGhee had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miles McGhee blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elliot Forrister having to make a save. In the 48th minute, Scotland's Miles McGhee ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Elliot Forrister. Elliot Forrister yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

If Barry Meine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Elliot Forrister made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Meine in the 55th minute of play. Miles Carruthers's late challenge caught a Galashiels FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miles Carruthers helped the player get up and apologised. Miles Carruthers kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Larry Bontine's shot from long distance in the 67th minute was not bad at all, but Scotland's Jordan Bean knew what was happening and pushed the ball into his arms just before it hit the right post. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Galashiels FC's goalkeeper Elliot Forrister, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 78 minutes into the match, Galashiels FC's goal looked a bit too open when Miles McGhee came free, but Elliot Forrister reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elliot Forrister took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miles McGhee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Quentin McGorry charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Quentin McGorry the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Galashiels FC getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Quentin McGorry hit a great ball. Elliot Forrister made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Meine in the 92nd minute of play. Elliot Forrister made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miles Carruthers in the 96th minute of play. There was no doubt that Scotland were the better team. Scotland's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
