Edmond Lair sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Patrick Duthie came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Cumnock FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrick Duthie couldn't finish the play. Cowes's Mike Devlin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dean Dinnes in the 31st minute of play. Patrick Duthie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kenneth McRuer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricky Hill in the 40th minute of the match. When Edmond Lair fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cowes's protests and gave Edmond Lair a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Cowes's Edmond Lair got a free kick in the 43rd minute.

The wind increased when Ricky Hill made the kick off in the second half. When Tom McGreusich fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cowes's protests and gave Tom McGreusich a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cowes getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Tom McGreusich hit a great ball. Patrick Duthie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Craig Corrie in the 59th minute of play forced Cowes's goalkeeper Mike Devlin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd minute Craig Corrie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike Devlin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dean Dinnes hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. In the 73rd match minute, Cumnock FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dean Dinnes to maneuver through the defense. Edmond Lair received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Kenneth McRuer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mike Devlin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Duthie in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute, Bob Craig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cumnock FC's goalkeeper Kenneth McRuer, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Charlie Evans charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Charlie Evans the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Charlie Evans hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Peter Clayton was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 90th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Cumnock FC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Cowes for a fine match.
