Spectators: 6808 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1808, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ricky Hill started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Peterhead's zone, Edmond Lair stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David McKenrick came out of the goal and Edmond Lair tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. David McKenrick showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricky Hill, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. If Daniel Denune had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Denune sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute, Colin McPhorich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 20 played minutes Peter Clayton shot from long distance. At first the shot seemed to be simple for Peterhead's David McKenrick to catch but Peter Clayton was lucky. It became 1-1 after the goalkeeper had been careless and dropped the ball into goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Edmond Lair managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cowes's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmond Lair was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David McKenrick breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 32 minutes into the match, Peterhead's goal looked a bit too open when Edmond Lair came free, but David McKenrick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricky Hill in the 35th minute of play forced Peterhead's goalkeeper David McKenrick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the game, Colin McPhorich was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Peterhead's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cowes the free kick. After a rather tough play, Peterhead's Colin McPhorich got a free kick in the 41st minute. Peter Clayton took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 41st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for David McKenrick. Peterhead's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 46 minutes into the match, Daniel Denune dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Mike Devlin, 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Denune to make the kick off. Ricky Hill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. David McKenrick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. David McKenrick didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edmond Lair went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Daniel Denune recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Daniel Denune had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mike Devlin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Murray Mein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 76th minute, Peter Clayton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Malcolm McKail took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 82nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Mike Devlin. Cowes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Peterhead's Daniel Denune got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mike Devlin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murray Mein in the 85th minute of the match. Colin McPhorich hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After 92 minutes Peterhead's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Peter Clayton who took care of the corner kick. Cowes's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Peter Clayton in the 93rd minute. Cowes's Peter Clayton was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but David McKenrick in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
