The supporters of Leeds booed when Czech Republic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erik Jilek didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 6th minute David Rusil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pál Benkó saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vavrinec Holub made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mihály Szikora in the 8th minute. When Mihály Szikora came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Leeds fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mihály Szikora couldn't finish the play. Czech Republic's Vavrinec Holub proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Czech Republic from getting a goal against them. Vavrinec Holub stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mihály Szikora's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. Leeds's Pál Benkó played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Rezek in the 21st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Czech Republic's David Rusil got a free kick in the 23rd minute. With an all-out effort, Leeds's Vavrinec Holub threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tibor Dudics, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Vavrinec Holub didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mihály Szikora went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. David Rusil's late challenge caught a Leeds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Rusil helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th minute, David Rusil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Vavrinec Holub made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mihály Szikora in the 41st minute. Krisztián Buday's late challenge caught a Czech Republic's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Krisztián Buday helped the player get up and apologised. Leeds's Pál Benkó played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alan Rezek in the 46th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mihály Szikora to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Mihály Szikora ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vavrinec Holub was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Czech Republic's Vavrinec Holub played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mihály Szikora in the 56th minute of play. When Mihály Szikora got free in front of the goal in the 56th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Vavrinec Holub was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tibor Dudics in the 58th minute of play forced Czech Republic's goalkeeper Vavrinec Holub to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leeds's Pál Benkó proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Leeds from getting a goal against them. Kvetoslav Janku's late challenge caught a Leeds's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kvetoslav Janku helped the player get up and apologised. In the 76th minute, Krisztián Buday hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute Tibor Dudics shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vavrinec Holub saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leeds walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
