Jonathan Richardson started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Newtonmore's Martin McWalter got a free kick in the 8th minute. Callum McQuoid showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciaran McCaw in the 9th minute of the match. In the 10th match minute, Newtonmore was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jake McGilroy to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, Douglas Donachie notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Newtonmore's Callum McQuoid. Callum McQuoid was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jonathan Richardson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arthur Aitcheson having to interfere. Ken Armitage sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 25 minutes into the game, Eddie Bruce was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cowdenbeath AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtonmore the free kick. Arthur Aitcheson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Richardson in the 30th minute of play. Ken Armitage who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Arthur Aitcheson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 34 minutes into the game, Adam Cariston was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cowdenbeath AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtonmore the free kick. A collision led to Newtonmore getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Graham Appleton hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ciaran McCaw made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Newtonmore's goalkeeper Callum McQuoid had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Douglas Donachie. In the 55th minute, Ciaran McCaw got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th minute Ciaran McCaw shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Callum McQuoid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Callum McQuoid showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciaran McCaw in the 61st minute of the match. In the 62nd minute, Newtonmore's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Douglas Donachie fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ken Armitage fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arthur Aitcheson having to interfere. When Jake McGilroy fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newtonmore's protests and gave Jake McGilroy a yellow card for diving instead. Jake McGilroy hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. In the 69th minute, Ciaran McCaw got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Cowdenbeath AFC's zone, Ken Armitage stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arthur Aitcheson came out of the goal and Ken Armitage tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Ken Armitage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Arthur Aitcheson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathan Richardson in the 77th minute of the match. The supporters of Cowdenbeath AFC booed when Newtonmore was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan McPhillip didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 83 minutes Newtonmore's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ter Beath who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Ter Beath got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Callum McQuoid quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Matthew Brewster came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Cowdenbeath AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matthew Brewster couldn't finish the play. Callum McQuoid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciaran McCaw in the 86th minute of play. Ciaran McCaw fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Callum McQuoid having to interfere. When Newtonmore's Ken Armitage in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cowdenbeath AFC's goalie prevented a goal. A collision led to Cowdenbeath AFC getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Eddie Bruce hit a great ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Cowdenbeath AFC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
