He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cowdenbeath AFC reached it. Dean McEachin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Arthur Aitcheson made a huge save. Arthur Aitcheson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dean McEachin went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cowdenbeath AFC! If Nigel McOwl had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Thurso United booed when Cowdenbeath AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ciaran McCaw to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Cowdenbeath AFC booed when Thurso United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sam Kean didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nigel McOwl in the 70th minute of play forced Cowdenbeath AFC's goalkeeper Arthur Aitcheson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Douglas Donachie came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Cowdenbeath AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Douglas Donachie couldn't finish the play. Dean McEachin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Arthur Aitcheson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cowdenbeath AFC's Arthur Aitcheson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sam Kean in the 79th minute of play. Nigel McOwl blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arthur Aitcheson having to make a save. Dean McEachin scored 3-1 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arthur Aitcheson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nigel McOwl in the 90th minute of play forced Cowdenbeath AFC's goalkeeper Arthur Aitcheson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ciaran McCaw in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aiden McGruther saved Thurso United from getting behind. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Thurso United fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cowdenbeath AFC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
