After having played for 8 minutes, Ken Armitage managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newtonmore's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ken Armitage was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Danny McCanish in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Callum McQuoid prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Danny McCanish sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 28th match minute, Newtonmore was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jake McGilroy to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the game, Gareth Thomson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kirkliston's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Newtonmore the free kick. Callum McQuoid was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gareth Thomson showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 32 minute of play. In the 37th minute, Rod McGilchrist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kirkliston fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Rod McGilchrist hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. After 44 minutes, Irvin Burdon made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Newtonmore's Callum McQuoid tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Danny McCanish to make the kick off. When Kirkliston's Irvin Burdon in the 58th minute got a chance for a shot 58th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. But to his dismay, Danny McCanish quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Iain Polson made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Ken Armitage sent off a good shot on target. Callum McQuoid took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Danny McCanish, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danny McCanish in the 82nd minute of play forced Newtonmore's goalkeeper Callum McQuoid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Ken Armitage managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newtonmore's supporters rose to their feet, but Ken Armitage was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iain Polson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Danny McCanish sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 95th minute, Jonathan McPhillip hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
