Boruc Setara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Keith Alistair tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If William Fullarton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John Carson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Kevin Reidfurd firmly grabbed it by the left post. Boruc Setara took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Keith Alistair. Keith Alistair dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Keith Alistair didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Larry Deuchar went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. After 33 minutes of play, Ellon's Boruc Setara made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Keith Alistair was left in no man's land by his defense there! Gary McGeachin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Boruc Setara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kevin Reidfurd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John Carson in the 53rd minute of play. Alisdair McLaine received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Keith Alistair tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. BASXTHER UNITED FC's Keith Alistair played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boruc Setara in the 67th minute of play. If John Carson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kevin Reidfurd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Carson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74thth minute of the game John Carson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ellon's Kevin Reidfurd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Boruc Setara in the 77th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Keith Alistair kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-5 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Keith Alistair made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Boruc Setara sent off a good shot on target. After 87 minutes of play, Ellon's Gary McGeachin made it 1-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Keith Alistair was left in no man's land by his defense there! Frankie McOwl's late challenge caught a BASXTHER UNITED FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frankie McOwl helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Ellon's zone, William Fullarton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kevin Reidfurd came out of the goal and William Fullarton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kevin Reidfurd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Fullarton in the 95th minute of the match. Ellon played a much better game than BASXTHER UNITED FC and deserved their victory. The BASXTHER UNITED FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
