In the 4th match minute, Banchory was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian McIver to maneuver through the defense. Connor Young recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vincent Cook sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adrian McIver during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 10th match minute, Banchory was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adrian McIver to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 11 minutes, Connor Young managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ayr's supporters crossed their fingers, but Connor Young was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Ayr's William Collier got control of the ball when Max Mark tried to sneak it across the goal line. Vincent Cook struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. John Barnes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ayr. 21 minutes into the game, Vincent Cook cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. John Barnes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Max Mark recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Joseph McKinlay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Connor Young struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. John Barnes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ayr. The supporters of Banchory booed when Ayr was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donald Corstorphine didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vincent Cook fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Barnes having to interfere. In the 45thth minute of the game Connor Young who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Banchory's John Barnes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Joseph McKinlay recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Ayr were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vincent Cook stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Max Mark had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 52 minutes into the game, Joseph McKinlay cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. William Collier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Joseph McKinlay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. William Collier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Max Mark fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without William Collier having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Ayr's Tony Martin got a free kick in the 62nd minute. When Connor Young came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Ayr fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Connor Young couldn't finish the play. John Barnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vincent Cook, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. William Collier stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joseph McKinlay's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. Adrian McIver sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. William Collier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The Banchory fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ayr had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
