Tim Gows short, quick shot in the 4thth minute got Keith Alistair to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Gavin Archibald kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. 10 minutes into the match, Kelty's Nick McColl broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Tim Gow's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Keith Alistair read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. In the 13th minute, Sid Gruer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tim Gow fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Keith Alistair having to interfere. In the 22nd minute Tim Gow shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Keith Alistair saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Collier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from William Fullarton in the 23rd minute of the match. William Fullarton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. David Collier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Keith Alistair didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Kelty's Sid Gruer shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-0 in the ordered_time% minute. After having played for 37 minutes, Sid Gruer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kelty's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sid Gruer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tim Gow might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Keith Alistair. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tim Gow ran back to his position shaking his head. Keith Alistair was a little too slow when Nicholas Donnellson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tim Gow got free with Keith Alistair in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sid Gruer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tim Gow in the 56th minute of play forced BASXTHER UNITED FC's goalkeeper Keith Alistair to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Kelty's zone, William Fullarton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Collier came out of the goal and William Fullarton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kelty's David Collier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Michael Kinnell in the 62nd minute of play. With a little luck, Kelty's David Collier got control of the ball when John Carson tried to sneak it across the goal line. If John Carson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Collier made an important save on a dangerous shot by John Carson in the 74th minute. In the 79th minute William Fullarton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Collier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Keith Alistair took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sid Gruer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sid Gruer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Keith Alistair tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Kelty booed when BASXTHER UNITED FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Will Fyfe didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tim Gow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kelty's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
