Spectators: 6781 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1781, VIP seats: 0) In the 7thth minute of the game Boruc Setara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Banchory's John Barnes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. John Barnes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boruc Setara in the 9th minute of play. Ray Corbet kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. In the 15th match minute, Banchory was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ray Corbet to maneuver through the defense. John Barnes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Boruc Setara's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ray Corbet during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 19th minute, Ray Corbet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Alisdair McLaine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John Barnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Boruc Setara, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. 25 minutes into the game, Ellon's Gary McGeachin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. John Barnes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. A collision led to Ellon getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Nicky Raith hit a great ball. When Ellon's Boruc Setara in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Banchory's goalie prevented a goal. Gary McGeachin took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised John Barnes. John Barnes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Boruc Setara made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Banchory's John Barnes got control of the ball when Larry Deuchar tried to sneak it across the goal line. 57 minutes into the game, Mike McLehose threw the ball into play from the sideline. Ellon's Larry Deuchar quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. The supporters of Ellon booed when Banchory was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Mark didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boruc Setara struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. John Barnes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ellon. Kevin Reidfurd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Max Mark, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alisdair McLaine in the 73rd minute of play forced Banchory's goalkeeper John Barnes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Ellon's goal looked a bit too open when Joseph McKinlay came free, but Kevin Reidfurd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ellon getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Lukasz Rokitskiy hit a great ball. Ellon's Vincent Burns was substituted for Barry McKerlich. If Boruc Setara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 96 minutes of play, Ellon's Gary McGeachin made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. John Barnes was left in no man's land by his defense there! The Banchory fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ellon were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
