Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sid Gruer started the match with the kick off. Hugh McAldonich fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Collier having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Kelty fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 7th minute. Penalty! Eddie Burdon shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When Kirkcudbright AFC's Duncan Duff in the 9th minute got a chance for a shot 9th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Kelty's goalie prevented a goal. In the 16th minute Duncan Duff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Collier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Collier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duncan Duff in the 19th minute of the match. If Sid Gruer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gary Jones sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Josh McGilbert was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Tim Gow capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Tim Gow really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. If Tim Gow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Kirkcudbright AFC's zone, Tim Gow stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Josh McGilbert came out of the goal and Tim Gow tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 37th match minute, Kirkcudbright AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by John McEoin to maneuver through the defense. Josh McGilbert didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nicholas Donnellson went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. 47 minutes into the game, Kelty's Sid Gruer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Josh McGilbert made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Josh McGilbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tim Gow in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to Kirkcudbright AFC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. John McEoin hit a great ball. With a little luck, Kelty's David Collier got control of the ball when Hugh McAldonich tried to sneak it across the goal line. Kelty's Sid Gruer got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hugh McAldonich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 72nd minute, Duncan Duff fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. With a little luck, Kelty's David Collier got control of the ball when John McEoin tried to sneak it across the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, Kirkcudbright AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Sid Gruer came free, but Josh McGilbert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Duncan Duff managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kirkcudbright AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Duncan Duff was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Collier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Tim Gow had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute, Tim Gow left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Kelty fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. A collision led to Kelty getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Sid Gruer hit a great ball.
