The audience thought a goal was coming when Mike McGruder got free with Malcolm Webster in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute, one of POPPY TEAM FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for POPPY TEAM FC. In the 14th minute, the referee gave Auchterarder a penalty. Ken Dinwoodie looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Malcolm Webster. After having played for 18 minutes, Mike McGruder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Auchterarder's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mike McGruder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 20 minutes into the game, Alan McSporran was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. POPPY TEAM FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Auchterarder the free kick. A collision led to POPPY TEAM FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Alan McSporran hit a great ball. Adam Webster kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aidan McSwan in the 25th minute of play forced POPPY TEAM FC's goalkeeper Malcolm Webster to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 48thth minute of the game Aidan McSwan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but POPPY TEAM FC's Malcolm Webster was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alisdair McLeay made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alisdair McLeay in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Derek McWhannell saved Auchterarder from getting behind. If Aidan McSwan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alisdair McLeay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Derek McWhannell having to interfere. Aidan McSwan struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Malcolm Webster didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Auchterarder. Mike McGruder received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Malcolm Webster tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 70 minutes, Greg Addy managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. POPPY TEAM FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Greg Addy was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 72nd match minute, POPPY TEAM FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryan Comine to maneuver through the defense. Mike McGruder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 96th minute, Aidan McSwan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Malcolm Webster was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Auchterarder's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
