Spectators: 6785 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1785, VIP seats: 0) Ross Collier made the kick off and thus started the match. Kenny McLaine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kenneth Crum having to interfere. After 6 minutes of play, Stornoway FC's David Hutchenson made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Oliver McRitchie was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 12th minute of the match David McLarty shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kenneth Crum showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 17 minutes into the game, Blair Hutchison was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stornoway FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Prestwick United the free kick. In the 17th minute, Blair Hutchison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If David Hutchenson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Hutchenson scored 2-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oliver McRitchie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If William Stark had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Prestwick United fans' excitement grew in the 28th match minute when Prestwick United's Kenny McLaine looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ter Lenny during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Kenny McLaine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David McLarty took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 40th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kenneth Crum. Stornoway FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
The wind increased when William Stark made the kick off in the second half. Kenny McLaine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kenneth Crum made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kenny McLaine in the 59th minute. The audience was convinced that William Stark's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kenneth Crum was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. In the 67th minute, David Hutchenson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Stornoway FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Prestwick United's Ter Lenny got his second yellow card of the match in the 71st minute. The referee ordered Ter Lenny off the ground. 76 minutes into the game, Ross Collier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Oliver McRitchie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Oliver McRitchie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sam Hossack, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Stornoway FC's David Hutchenson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oliver McRitchie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Stornoway FC's Kenneth Crum got control of the ball when Kenny McLaine tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ross Collier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If David Hutchenson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 90 minutes into the game, William Stark was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Prestwick United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stornoway FC the free kick. After 90 played minutes Prestwick United got a freekick which was hit by William Stark. Stornoway FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edward Carstarphen in the 93rd minute. Oliver McRitchie didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ross Collier went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Stornoway FC had won after a very even match.
