After the first half Direwolves were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After a rather tough play, Renfrew FC's Innes Carter got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After some careless play in the Direwolves defense, Robin Davidson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rupert Ayres. The Direwolves fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rupert Ayres should have stopped the shot. Steve Elliott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steve Home having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Greig McFater in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Steve Home prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Greig McFater had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aidan McChoiter struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Rupert Ayres didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Renfrew FC. If Aidan McChoiter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Steve Elliott received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Steve Home tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Direwolves supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Direwolves would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
