Spectators: 6772 (Terracing: 5000,
Seating: 1772, VIP seats: 0) Chris McPherson's late challenge caught a Troon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris McPherson helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave Troon a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Graeme Dewar, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Edinburgh Steelers FC's Gus Alcorn. 1-0. Davie McNuir's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Steve Cooke read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Troon's Graeme Dewar got a free kick in the 10th minute. Edinburgh Steelers FC's Davie McNuir got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Edinburgh Steelers FC booed when Troon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brandon Abbot didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Troon defense, Ray McKelloch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Steve Cooke. The Troon fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Steve Cooke should have stopped the shot. Freddie McGown in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gus Alcorn, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 22ndth minute of the game Arthur Coutts who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Edinburgh Steelers FC's Gus Alcorn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Freddie McGown fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gus Alcorn having to interfere. Steve Cooke made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davie McNuir in the 26th minute of play. If Freddie McGown had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Freddie McGown managed to get in a good position for a shot. Troon's supporters rose to their feet, but Freddie McGown was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gus Alcorn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gus Alcorn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arthur Coutts in the 45th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arthur Coutts was the one to do the kick off. Troon's Steve Cooke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davie McNuir in the 54th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 56th minute, Ray McKelloch managed to get in a good position for a shot. Edinburgh Steelers FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ray McKelloch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steve Cooke breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Davie McNuir fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steve Cooke having to interfere. Troon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Freddie McGown was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ray McKelloch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Steve Cooke made a huge save. In the 85th minute Davie McNuir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Steve Cooke saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 88th minute, Alistair Mennie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edinburgh Steelers FC's Davie McNuir got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Troon players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
