Taylor McKindlay breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Malcolm McThomas in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Taylor McKindlay saved Portree from getting behind. Malcolm McThomas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alan McCause kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. After 25 minutes of play, Kirkcaldy's Malcolm McThomas made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Taylor McKindlay was left in no man's land by his defense there! 30 minutes into the match, Portree's goal looked a bit too open when Malcolm McThomas came free, but Taylor McKindlay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portree's Taylor McKindlay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Malcolm McThomas in the 37th minute of play. Taylor McKindlay showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Hobson in the 38th minute of the match. In the 44th match minute, Portree was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael McHugh to maneuver through the defense. After the first half Kirkcaldy were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Malcolm McThomas made a kick off. When Malcolm McThomas came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Kirkcaldy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Malcolm McThomas couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Robert Hobson got free with Taylor McKindlay in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ben Baird fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald McRobert having to interfere. After 69 played minutes Kirkcaldy got a freekick which was hit by Walter McConchy. Walter McConchy kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute James McArthur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald McRobert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donald McRobert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James McArthur, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. James McArthur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, Kirkcaldy's Robert Hobson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Taylor McKindlay narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Ben Baird got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. James McArthur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald McRobert having to interfere. Graham McNey charged in rather forcefully in the 93rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Graham McNey the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Portree supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Kirkcaldy's performance. The match ended with a win for Kirkcaldy.
