The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 26th minute of the match Brandon McCrain sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Donald McRobert skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Kirkcaldy's zone, Marcus Lenny stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donald McRobert came out of the goal and Marcus Lenny tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Kirkcaldy's Frank Paterson got a free kick in the 29th minute. Marcus Lenny might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donald McRobert. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcus Lenny ran back to his position shaking his head. Walter McConchy kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. Marcus Lenny recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Donald McRobert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Colin Barbour, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Terry McPatrick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Terry McPatrick had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Malcolm McThomas made the kick off in the second half. Donald McRobert showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Lenny in the 52nd minute of the match. Robert Hobson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st match minute, Beauly was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Colin Barbour to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rd minute, Robert Hobson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Angus Carrigan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Terry McPatrick in the 68th minute of play forced Kirkcaldy's goalkeeper Donald McRobert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Marcus Lenny came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Beauly fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcus Lenny couldn't finish the play. If Malcolm McThomas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Angus Carrigan was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Walter McConchy. A collision led to Beauly getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Marcus Lenny hit a great ball.
