Rory Barr struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Ryan McChlerich didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Alloa. Ryan McChlerich took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darius McIlleriach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Alloa getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Josh Cook hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Willie Lobban managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carluke's supporters rose to their feet, but Willie Lobban was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Malcolm Gunn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 11 minutes into the match, Joe Hutcheson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Alloa's Malcolm Gunn. Malcolm Gunn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 18 minutes into the match, Alloa's goal looked a bit too open when Joe Hutcheson came free, but Malcolm Gunn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Darius McIlleriach kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ryan McChlerich. That made the score 1-1 in the 24 minute of play. Alex McFie hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joe Hutcheson in the 32nd minute of play forced Alloa's goalkeeper Malcolm Gunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paddy McThomas kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. After having played for 35 minutes, Joe Hutcheson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carluke's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joe Hutcheson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Carluke booed when Alloa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rory Barr didn't get a good kick on the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Carluke's goalkeeper Ryan McChlerich had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rory Barr. Malcolm Gunn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Willie Lobban in the 43rd minute of play. Gareth McOran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rory Barr fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ryan McChlerich having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joe Hutcheson to strike the kick off in the second half. If Willie Lobban had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st match minute, Carluke was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lewis Dunnachie to maneuver through the defense. Paddy McThomas was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 62nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 64th minute, Josh Cook hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Carluke's Duncan Francis couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 65th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Alloa. Les Smart charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Les Smart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Alloa getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Les Smart hit a great ball. Duncan Francis was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 81st played minute, shot the ball from way out. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Malcolm Gunn, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
