If Jack Christie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 8th minute, Evan Wilson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cromarty FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Darvel City's Tommy Gardner got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Darvel City's goalkeeper Peter Huntly, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute Tommy Gardner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Freddie McOwl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Cromarty FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tommy Gardner came free, but Freddie McOwl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peter Huntly stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Evan Ayson's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Tommy Gardner blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Freddie McOwl having to make a save. 42 minutes into the game, Jack Christie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Peter Huntly was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tommy Gardner who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 47thth minute tested the skills of Freddie McOwl when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tommy Gardner stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jack Christie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Peter Huntly having to make a save. After having played for 53 minutes, Evan Ayson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cromarty FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Evan Ayson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tommy Gardner sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th minute, Jack Christie got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Peter Huntly showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evan Ayson in the 61st minute of the match. Darvel City's Tommy Gardner got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 75 minutes into the match, Cromarty FC's Rod Clyne broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Freddie McOwl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Gardner in the 78th minute of the match. Freddie McOwl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simon Swan, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. After a rather tough play, Darvel City's Timmy Lammond got a free kick in the 86th minute. In the 89th minute Cromarty FC were awarded a corner. Rod Clyne went to the cornerflag to take it. Cromarty FC's Rod Clyne was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Peter Huntly in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jack Christie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 94th minute of the match, but Peter Huntly made a huge save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Cromarty FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
