Lochailort FC's Stuart McNiven played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyler McAchounich in the 3rd minute of play. In the 8th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cairndow AFC's goalkeeper Vinny McCook, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 9 minutes into the match, Lochailort FC's Greig McGilbert sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vinny McCook narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walter Armour in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vinny McCook prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Greig McGilbert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vinny McCook having to interfere. When Greig McGilbert came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Lochailort FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Greig McGilbert couldn't finish the play. In the 16th minute, Cairndow AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Walter Armour fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After 17 minutes, Thomas McQuaire mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cairndow AFC and the Lochailort FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17th minute, Thomas McQuaire hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute Tyler McAchounich shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stuart McNiven saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and John McMurray made a kick off. Walter Armour kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Stuart McNiven made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John McMurray in the 55th minute of play. Vinny McCook showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Greig McGilbert, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. After having played for 59 minutes, Tyler McAchounich managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cairndow AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tyler McAchounich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vinny McCook made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greig McGilbert in the 62nd minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Greig McGilbert had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vinny McCook. Cairndow AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Greig McGilbert was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With a little luck, Lochailort FC's Stuart McNiven got control of the ball when Tyler McAchounich tried to sneak it across the goal line. Walter Armour spun around in front of the goal 78 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Cairndow AFC's goal. In the 81st minute, Greig McGilbert made a precise shot to the right of Vinny McCook. Cairndow AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Innes Mathie's late challenge caught a Cairndow AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Innes Mathie helped the player get up and apologised. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Greig McGilbert managed to get in a good position for a shot.
