Logan Barbour took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Cross, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ronnie Elliott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joe Adams having to interfere. Joe Adams made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronnie Elliott in the 15th minute. The audience was convinced that Wally Alcorn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Logan Barbour was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Cross in the 17th minute of play forced Gretna's goalkeeper Logan Barbour to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 32 minutes into the match, Gretna's Ronnie Elliott sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joe Adams narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 33 minutes, Logan McIlreach took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Joe Adams to make any attempt to save it. Wally Alcorn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Logan Barbour having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 42nd minute by Ronnie Elliott got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kevin Cross was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Danny Cox was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Macduff's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gretna the free kick. Danny Cox hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. When Gretna's Logan McIlreach in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Macduff's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Gretna's zone, Kevin Cross stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Logan Barbour came out of the goal and Kevin Cross tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 75 minutes of play, Gretna's Ronnie Elliott made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joe Adams was left in no man's land by his defense there! Logan McIlreach's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joe Adams read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 79th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Macduff's zone, Ronnie Elliott stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joe Adams came out of the goal and Ronnie Elliott tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Kevin Cross managed to get in a good position for a shot. Macduff's supporters rose to their feet, but Kevin Cross was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Logan Barbour breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 85 played minutes Macduff got a freekick which was hit by Irvin Booth. After having played for 88 minutes, Wally Alcorn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Macduff's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wally Alcorn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gretna's Logan Barbour played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Cross in the 92nd minute of play. Gretna were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Macduff for a fine match.
