Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Johnstone SFC's Henry McHutcheon started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wally Ballantyne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henry McHutcheon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Johnstone SFC booed when Sheperton FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Taylor Rorison didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpected shot in the 8th minute by Ter McQuisten got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ter McQuisten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally Ballantyne having to interfere. In the 22ndth minute of the game Henry McHutcheon who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sheperton FC's Wally Ballantyne was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Henry McHutcheon kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Wally Ballantyne. That made the score 2-0 in the 27 minute of play. If Ter McQuisten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Johnstone SFC defense, Barry McLise kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Patrick McAdam. The Johnstone SFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Patrick McAdam should have stopped the shot. Johnstone SFC's Ter McQuisten managed to work through Sheperton FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Ter McQuisten dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Barry McLise to make the kick off. Ian McQuire charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ian McQuire the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 58 minutes into the match, Sheperton FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ter McQuisten came free, but Wally Ballantyne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chris McOnie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wally Ballantyne having to make a save. Wally Ballantyne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ter McQuisten, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Ter McQuisten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chris McOnie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wally Ballantyne having to interfere. In the 73rd minute, Henry McHutcheon left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Johnstone SFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ter McQuisten in the 80th minute of play forced Sheperton FC's goalkeeper Wally Ballantyne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wally Ballantyne showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ter McQuisten, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Chris McOnie struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Wally Ballantyne didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Johnstone SFC. Paddy McKendrick hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match.
