Cairndow City's Benjamin Duncanson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Greig Monzie in the 14th minute of play. When Cairndow City's Grant McKeggie in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Finlay Fish charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Finlay Fish the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 20th minute, one of Eyemouth FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Eyemouth FC. In the 22nd minute there was a penalty for Cairndow City. Ray Denune stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jimmy Devlin. 0-1. In the 28th minute, Grant McKeggie left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cairndow City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Grant McKeggie blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jimmy Devlin having to make a save. Jimmy Devlin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Martin King, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Aaron Taylor's late challenge caught a Eyemouth FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aaron Taylor helped the player get up and apologised. After 40 played minutes Cairndow City got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Taylor. After 46 minutes Cairndow City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Finlay Fish who took care of the corner kick. Gordon McFergus tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Benjamin Duncanson. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-2 in the 46th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Greig Monzie made a kick off. When Miles Hewitt fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cairndow City's protests and gave Miles Hewitt a yellow card for diving instead. Miles Hewitt hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. When Martin King came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Cairndow City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin King couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Grant McKeggie got free with Jimmy Devlin in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Grant McKeggies short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Jimmy Devlin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Martin King struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Jimmy Devlin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cairndow City. Martin King fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jimmy Devlin having to interfere. Guy Sherry hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Douglas McIlvride sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Cairndow City supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Cairndow City would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
