In the last second Edward Archibald throw himself and got hold of the ball when Walter Yuille in the 4thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. After 4 played minutes Mauchline got a freekick which was hit by Angus Swanson. Martin Taylor recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mauchline's Edward Archibald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Yuille in the 11th minute of play. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mauchline's goalkeeper Edward Archibald, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nicky McKindlay's late challenge caught a Partick Thistle F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nicky McKindlay helped the player get up and apologised. If Walter Yuille had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jim McGilchrist thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Edward Archibald, a very annoying self made goal in the 18th minute which led to 1-0. In the 20th minute, Martin Taylor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 26th minute Walter Yuille shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edward Archibald saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edward Archibald made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walter Yuille in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Walter Yuille fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Through an outstanding action, after 37 minutes, Edward Archibald successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Samuel Low sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 40th minute, Martin Taylor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 42 minutes, Samuel Low managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mauchline's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuel Low was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 45 minutes into the match, Mauchline's goalkeeper Edward Archibald had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Grant McKessock. After a defensive mix-up in Mauchline's zone, Walter Yuille stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edward Archibald came out of the goal and Walter Yuille tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Samuel Low made the kick off in the second half. If Grant McKessock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes in the game, Samuel Low fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Charlie McCluskie having to interfere. Walter Yuille received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Edward Archibald tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Walter Yuille fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Archibald having to interfere. The supporters of Partick Thistle F.C. booed when Mauchline was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Low didn't get a good kick on the ball. Walter Yuille fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edward Archibald having to interfere. A collision led to Mauchline getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Angus Swanson hit a great ball. Edward Archibald made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grant McKessock in the 71st minute of play. Mauchline's Edward Archibald played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Yuille in the 74th minute of play. Walter Yuille scored 2-0 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Edward Archibald, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edward Archibald showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walter Yuille, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. If Angus Swanson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Samuel Low came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Mauchline fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuel Low couldn't finish the play. Walter Yuille sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 96th minute, Samuel Low fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Charlie McCluskie, passed just outside the right post. Samuel Low took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Charlie McCluskie. Charlie McCluskie dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1.
